Based in Israel, Royal Rat Productions is a group of young, independent filmmakers burning to make films. Established in Israel, in 1994, three high school students, Yaniv Berman, Gad Emile Zeitune and Tzvi Sahar, started to make short movies under the name of Royal Rat.

Soon after, in 1996, their movie 'Nurit Knows to Act' won the Young Jury Prize and citation from the Jerusalem Film Festival. After a period of three years in which they had to serve in the military, the band regrouped to continue its tradition of making short films. In 2000 they made their first independent short outside the bounds of school - 'Midnight Espresso'.

2001 marked a new phase of filmmaking at the prestigious Film & Television Department of Tel Aviv University. The first movie done there, 'My Last Novel', was broadcast several times on Israeli television and in 2002 Royal Rat indulged in their first film on 16mm, 'Naked Laura', with which they traveled around the world to several international film festivals.

In 2006 'Even Kids Started Small' took the filmmakers to Cannes, France where the short film competed in the Cinéfondation section of the Festival de Cannes.

And now, after 5 years of dedication, comes a unique documentary called 'The Alpha Diaries'. An unprecedented, groundbreaking and voyeuristic look into military reserve life in Israel...
